Resetting posts, straightening runs, and putting gates right
Most repair calls start with one of three things. A post has leaned enough that the whole run follows it, and resetting that post means digging it out, checking what's left of the base, and setting it fresh rather than just packing dirt around the old lean. A run has drifted out of line over years of ground movement, and pulling it back straight means resetting the string line off posts we know are still solid, not just the two ends. Or a gate drags on the ground or won't latch anymore, which is almost always the hinge post that's moved rather than the gate itself, so we fix the post before we touch the hardware. Fence worth keeping gets cleaned and stained back to a finish that holds. Fence that's past that gets torn down and hauled off the property, no half measures on wood that's already lost the fight.
Reading rot at the ground line versus weather on the surface
Surface weathering is gray, dry wood that still holds a screw and still carries weight, and it's what stain and a light sand fix. Rot at the ground line is a different problem entirely: a post or a bottom board that's gone soft and dark for the first several inches above the dirt, where moisture sits against the wood longest. Press a screwdriver into it. If it sinks in soft, that section is done regardless of how the rest of the fence looks. We tell you which one you have before we quote anything, because a repair that only addresses the visible weathering while the ground line is rotting through is money spent on a fence that's going to fail again within a season. Sometimes the honest answer is that one run needs a full rebuild while the rest of the fence has years left in it, and we'll say so rather than pricing the whole thing as new.

Two repairs other crews couldn't finish
One customer had lived with a fence line that was out of alignment for more than ten years before we came out and corrected it properly, resetting the run so it finally sat straight against the property line it was supposed to follow the whole time. Another had a fence post from a different company driven straight through her septic mainline, and after that company stopped returning calls she was quoted a three month wait everywhere else she checked. We came out the next day, gave her the estimate, then had someone on site within the week to move the post and reinstall the run in a corrected spot, working the job in around a crew that was already on another site that day. Both jobs came down to the same thing: look at what's actually under the ground before deciding what the fix is.
